Mass start race with everyone allowed to skip one control. I ran most of the race with Joe B. I tried to run away from him by picking up the pace for 6-7-8. That didn't work. I tried getting him in the lead and hoping he'd make a different skip (from 11-12). I realized Joe was tired, so when he skipped 13 (as I'd planned), I made another effort to run away and this time it worked.
